I am thinking about getting a slug barrel for either my 12 or 20 ga shotgun. Leaning toward the 20, because i don't have a second 12 and do not want to be without a 12 for turkey etc.

I guess what i need to know is, does the 20 have enough umpf to get out there to 100 yds. I was told yes by a man that was at the range with the exact same 20 ga that i have (remington 870). He was shooting at 50 yds and had a group in a 2" circle in the bull. He said it was very capable of a 100 yd shot and had the velocity of a .50 ML.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what ammo to use.

Not sure why you would be worried about the 12, the barrels are changeable in less than a few minutes. I do it all the time with my Ithaca deerslayer & Remington 11-87 premiere.

purchase a Hastings w/cantilevered scope mount and bam.........no problems, scope goes with the barrel. No having to resight or remove the scope from the receiver.

I was wondering if that would work thanks for that info.

BE SURE TO CHECK THE RATE OF TWIST OF THE BARREL. THE SST'S NEED A FAST TWIST 1 IN 28 LIKE IN WINCHESTER OR BROWNING BARRELS. REM AND MOSS HAVE A SLOWER RATE OF 1 IN 35
