First time in a few years I haven't killed a few on opening morning. I have seen 2 tota. First one gave me a brief shot and it went CLICK because I forgot to chamber a round. Second one didn't give me a shot. I'm still in the woods but heading out soon.

I also had a real slow morning. My little patch of woods was almost empty, saw a couple, but I couldn't get within range before they spooked. I did hear a few shots off a ways, so someone had some action. I never fired a shot! And it was HOT! Spider webs everywhere. I don't think I'll go again till we get a little cool off.

I shot 1 and saw 5 or 6 out of range. Agree about it being hot and the spider webs. Bad thing about it, the webs were all from deadly poisonous spiders!

It wasn't hot most of the morning here, surprisingly. I was comfortable all morning, even dozed off a couple times. Just was too quiet to stay awake. Usually I hear them cutting hickory nuts and acorns all around me, and the sound of shavings falling down to the ground. Unusual this year.

I did have a grey come down the tree right in front of me, shortly after starting this thread. I freehanded two shots and missed, watched him run off without stopping to look back. So I saw 3 squirrels all morning. Unusual
