Sling stud stripped out ?

I picked up another Remington 7600 carbine last nite , the sling stud in the stock is striped out . What's the best way to fix this problem ?

I'd try to epoxy it in the stock. If that doesn't fix it you'll have to put a dowell in it then redrill it.

I have a Bell&Carlson carbelite stock with similar problem, stripped sling stud. The original stud was very coarse threaded & pointed. Just drill a pilot hole and screw it in close by? Sure. Tried that. The constant turn pressure on the screw from the sling loosens it up and eventually it pulls out. I'm thinking drill a 1/2 inch hole and using some kind of glue I do not know of, glue the wood in and then a hole for a real sling screw and a countersunk hole in the barrel channel side so the lock nut is not in contact ith barrel. Anyone have any ideas on the glue and if this would work? The carbelite seems totally inert, non-porous, nothing seems to stick to it.

I would use some type of insert. That could be epoxied in.

i have used pieces of zip ties
cut 2 pieces about an inch longer than the hole is deep and insert into hole
bend one each way till its flat along the botton of the stock (this is to help hold to place until stud is started good)
once its started good cut it off flush with the stock and screw it the rest of the way in
depending on how bad its stripped out you may only need to use one piece of zip tie
i did one of mine that way about 15 years ago and it still holding

The only problem with this is you could split the stock if it is a wood stock.

0ne good shoot : I was thinking about doing this but using a wood shim instead . I also thought about a wood dowel glued in but seems most of it would be drilled right back out to put the stud in so not sure how well it would hold up . I am kind of worried about this cause I had a sling come off a gun last year and it dropped off my shoulder and busted a beautiful walnut stock into splinters .

i had to use the smallest zip tie i had
basically it the same as using the concrete anchors made of the same material
i will admit i was between a rock and a hard place when i did mine but its held up well

Drill it out oversize, glue in a hardwood dowel with wood glue, then redrill it.
