I don't know how many times last deer season I was sitting in my blind or stand and squirrels drove me crazy. This is my son's first year with his own gun so i was super excited for squirrel opening this year.

We got skunked. We didn't even see any starlings we could shoot. My son fell into a nest of seed ticks. We got home at 8:15 last night. My wife and I took turns holding him down while the other used tweezers to remove the ticks. We finished at 10:30. He was eat up in all the wrong places.

It'll be a while before I get him to hunt anything while ticks are still out.

ETA: Did walk up and spook 5 doe and 1 buck at about 20ft.

I opened his door to tell him bye this morning before leaving for work. Opened the door and he was laying on top of his sheets, completely naked and obvious he'd been clawing himself. I felt so sorry for him.

I sprayed our hunting clothes with Permanone beforehand and then with Off when we got there.

There was a small hill to walk down with loose dirt. I held his gun for him but after one step he rolled head over tail all the way down into some dry cow patties.

I'm thinking maybe that little excursion is why he got them and I didn't. I only had 5, 3 dug in and thumped 2 walkers.
