Took my buddy and his son out for a little redneckin' at the Gallatin steam plant. It was by far the slowest skipjack trip I've ever been on, but we still had a ball. William (15) caught his first fish on a fly rod (and several more).

I really wanted to go that day, but my boat is in the shop for repairs. So I spent the day doing a few chores, including butchering a deer and making 30 pounds of sausage and bratwurst.

Somebody on this thread is lying. Even a Cajun won't try to eat a skipjack. However I have heard that some folks who live up Nawth where they actually have a season on them do try to eat them. I think Pat McManus wrote a story about that one time.

I recall one day at Cheatham dam catching shad for rockfish bait and even the Cambodians and Laotians were throwing them back.
 
I can't seem to remember which article, but I wrote a snippet somewhere about eating the dern things. I used the below picture, and because the nasty fish had a hunk taken out of it, I called it my "quarter pounder with cheese!"
