I'll ask a question that falls into the same category.

I have some older Leupold scopes that have friction adjustments. No clicks when turning the dial.

On the dial it says MOA. And then around the dial there are large and small lines noted by numbers. A full turn would = 12. And there are intermediate measures to where you could adjust say, 3.5, 4, 4.5 etc. and it's possible to stop between the noted measures.

So, my question is, at 100 yds, what should happen if I move the dial by "1" or ".5"

On the rifleman I had years ago it had that style of adjustment. It would be possible to stop anywhere on the adjustment scale. If you went 1/4 past or half past it should only move it that amount. Just like any other scope.

Those are still MOA turrets. So, 1 is equal to 1 MOA and .5 is equal to 1/2 MOA. The hash marks between are equal to 1/4 MOA. If one revolution is equal to 12 MOA, then it sounds like you could get at least 2 revolutions from zero up or down. I've had scopes with friction adjustments as well. I've never liked them but the work just fine.

Ok. So if I want to move point of impact an inch at 100 yds, I would turn the dial 1. Meaning from 2 to 3 or from 2.25 to 3.25 etc? Is this a correct interpretation of your reply, fairchaser?
