What is you're routine when sighting in your muzzle loader. My optima seems to be more accurate on 2nd or 3rd shot after cleaning. Just wondering what some of you have luck doing.

I have a CVA Kodiak Mag that shoots better groups after fouling the barrel, but have a Knight that shoots good from the start. Just have to find what your gun likes and stick with it.

My omega definitely shoots better with a fouled barrel. Starting with a clean bore, I load a little powder (about 70 gns), load a cheap bullet, and shoot it. Then I run two dry patches and load it for real (105 gns of 777, 245 grn Barnes spitfire MZ). I will shoot 3 shots after the fouling shot. Then I clean with wet patches and start over. It's a little bit of a hassle if I shoot several times, but when I'm done at the range, I clean, shoot a fouling shot, and load it and I'm set for the season.

I shoot 4 shots, don't count #1, so groups of 3 for load eval, then 1 wet/dry patch 2-3x until "reasonably clean" (it wont be spotless) for next grouping. it has been quite consistent for load evaluations

You leave your load in for all season? Doesn't that corrode the barrel?
