sighting in

Have a new Browning x-bolt medallion 30-06. I tried something new to sight in rifles Saturday. I've heard of it but have never tried it. I put my rifle in the rest and pulled out the bolt and centered the bore on a 12x12 shoot n see target at about 75 ft. Looked though the scope and moved the cross hairs to the bull. Shot once 1 inch high and left.

This is the fun part.

Put the gun back in the rest and lined up on the bull. moved the cross hairs to the hole and about an inch low. I knew I would still be climbing at 100 yds so set the crosshairs 1" low of the hole. Do not count clicks!

Shot at 100 yds 3 inches high dead center One more shot just to check and cut a ragged hole.

2 shot zero and never counted a click.

Shot a bull barrel .223 3 inches left moved the crosshairs to the hole and shot about 4" high at 100 yds dropped it 8 clicks now its 2 inches high at 200 yds. 3 shot zero

We did it on 3 different rifles. Its the easiest way to get windage. If you are at real high at 100 just lower it 4 clicks per inch.

Lots of ya'll probably do this but this is the first time I have. zeroed 3 rifles all with 2-4 shots.

Try it. It's easy and a good way to get your rifle sighted in the field with minimal shots if you bump a scope off.

Yep this way you don't have to count clicks x 4 at 25 yds. it" more precise on windage for sure.

Congrats on Trying the Best Way to do that.

BTW- It will work at range just takes a little practice and care to get it down right.

BTW 2- Sometimes good to have a partner around to do the adjusting while the other holds the rifle steady.
