Sighting in Optima?

I just got a new 50 cal CVA Optima Magnum with a Redhead Epic 3x9x40 Muzzloader scope. It was boresighted at Bass Pro when I bought it. First shot it was about inch high at 50 yards, 2nd shot inch low at 100 yards, 3rd shot 4 inches left at 100 and then 4 inches right at 50. I had a steady rest and did not clean between shots. I was using 100 gr pyrodex pellets and 245 gr aerotip Powerbelt bullets. Scope is tight, any suggestions? Thanks.
 
Throw away the powerbelts!! LOL No I have no clue,even though I don't like powerbelts on deer,they always shot accurate for me.
 
Ok guys help me out. I searched the forum and narrowed it down to Hornady XTP 245 or 300 gr....Or Barnes Expander 250 or 290 gr. Which would you use with pyrodex pellets? Thanks for advice.
 
Shoot what your gun likes the best but my brother in law has the same gun. It will shoot both T/C shockwave 250 grain and 250 grain Hornady with 150 grains of Pyrodex pellets.

I also clean my gun and let it cool in between each shot. I want my gun to be lined up with a clean barrel.

Try shooting a 3 shot group at a set distance and go from there. If it does not shoot a good group (assuming that the shooter made good shots and nothing is wrong with the scope or gun), then you will need to experiment with different powder and bullet combinations. A lot of mzls are picky on what they want to shoot.
 
I shoot a optima too and I have to clean between shots to get good groups. 240 gr. XTPs or 250gr. Shockwaves have done good for me. Shockwaves hold better groups past a 100yds.

If you need a second shot...I bet that sucks!

I have a friend who instead of taking the time to experiment with different loads, powders and bullets...he only shoots a clean barrel?

I asked him, what if there are multiple deer or you need a second shot and you have no idea where that second shot will hit??

Im not really worried about the second shot it would be the third that i would be worried about. I get 1.5" or better 3 shot group @ a 100 yds with a clean barrel.
if i dont clean after the first the second shot will be off 3 4 or 5 inches and and there aint no telling where the third shot will end up.
I just make the first one count that way i dont have to worry about it :)

That's the reason I have mine sighted in with a dirty barrel so I know where the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th shot is going. I had it sighted in with a clean barrel when I first got it because that's what everyone said you had to do. Sucked having to get a couple patches out in 10 degree weather and clean before reloading, so I decided to see what it does with a dirty barrel. It patterns well with several shots from a dirty barrel so that's what I went with.
 
Same set up you have. I shoot 300 grain XTP's over 2 50 grain pellets of 777. Sighted it in about 3 inches high at 50.

Yep. I know EXACTLY what the problem is, because I had the same problem. That Redhead scope is a piece-o-crap! Junk it and get something that can withstand the shock of the gun.

I got a good deal on an NC Star scope with the luminated cross hairs. Nice and clear and was easy to zero, but after the gun set overnight, it was 2 feet high and 1 ft to one side or the other. Not just any scope will work on a ML, had a Leupold every since with no issues.
 
I shoot a CVA optima elite with 2 777 pellets and 245 gr powerbelts. First shot after cleaning is dead on at 50 yards then down hill after that.
