Looking for some new ideas here... will be six of us for dinner, I'm doing marinated backstrap slices wrapped in bacon & grilled. Still need to think of some good sides though, getting tired of the usual potatoes & green beans. Maybe a rice pilaf or something... any thoughts? Thanks...

mashed turnips with bacon, butternut squash, some kind of baked fruit(sweet fruit always goes good with deer) i like pears or apples, better yet why not grill them.

roasted brocc or brussel sprouts (only way I can eat'em). just drizzle some oil, kosher salt and pepper, I put mine in a small iron skillet and put in a hot arse oven.

corn pudding. mac & tomatoes (when in season).

i like turnip greens with big country ham hock in there

hash brown casserole (but u said no taters)

creamed sweet corn

fried okra
none of those are healthy

Since you're grilling anyhow, grilled asparagus is good - just drizzle olive oil and sprinkle on some salt/pepper.

Grilled corn on the cob too. I don't use butter anymore - just olive oil with salt, pepper, and basil.

Then you could get you some good bread - I like ciabatta - slice and drizzle with oil and grill a minute each side.

we will do roasted vegetable couscous with broccoli, carrots, and nuts... a venison shoulder roast and some of those bacon-wrapped backstrap filets... wife is making a blueberry pie for dessert. good thing we'll be at home, I won't be able to move after that meal.
