Do you really need an excuse for a shrimp boil? We were celebrating a Tuesday.

That is all we had to eat other than swimps. I like to use the zattarans spice bags (twice as many as the box suggests) as well as their crab boil oil. Other than that a couple of onions, garlic, lemons and salt. I have always added a cup or so of vegetable oil because I have always heard it makes them easier to peel. ...I have had easy and not so easy to peel batches.

Man, I've been wanting to do that ever since this fresh seafood place opened up near my house. I wonder where I could get a big pot like that with the built in strainer? Any idea?

I went into the seafood place the other day and they had big ol' crawdads crawling around on the display in ice - thought that was really cool marketing :) !

Go to walmart or bass pro and buy the turkey pot.....it works just fine.

We put onions, cabbage, corn, taters shrimp,& polish sausage sliced in 1" long chunks in ours. I was told the secret to the shrimp was not to add it until all the other stuff is done and out of the pot. We pour it onto the table and cover it with a sheet or news paper, then put in the shrimp it cooks in about 5 mins.Dump it on top of all the other stuff and dig in.

I love adding artichokes and Brussels sprouts to mine.....

also about a dozen oranges cut in half, squeezed into the boil and remains thrown into pot, 3-4 lemons the same way is also helpful

do not forget the whole[larger size] mushrooms, you almost can't add enough of them

The wife and I celebrated nothing with one on Sunday.

I didn't realize that I'd be posting pics of it online, or I would have used a better camera.

I do have a boil pot/strainer for a turkey fryer, but when just doing a boil for a few people, prefer to use a much smaller pan and do it on the kitchen sink.

When I'm cooking for a big group, I use a big pot over an open propane flame (turkey cooker)...Bring the water to a roiling boil with several bags of crab seasoning, add potatoes and sausage cut into pieces, boil 8 minutes, add corn and carrots, boil 5 minutes, add shrimp and as soon as shrimp pink up (a couple of minutes) pour the whole batch out on a clean sheet laying on my dock. gather the corners of the sheet, hold up til drains and carry to table...

Add cayanne and/or garlic cloves and sometimes lemon halves depending on my mood...

we had shrimp boil last week(wifes turn to season ),she had the whole family sneezing due to all the spices through out the kitchen and den.it was like the barfa rama in the movie " stand by me" but only a sneeze arama.everyone sneezing uncontrollable.good times and good eats
