I am hunting tomorrow afternoon, but I've got one spot I want to go and not sure if I should wait for a better day for that spot. Mid to high 60s, overcast, between rain, only thing good is the wind is right. Should I hunt a big fresh rub line, or wait for a better day? Who has killed a good buck on an odd warm day that doesn't seen like deer hunting weather? Maury county
 
I'm always going to go to the spot that gives me the best chance to see a good buck on any given day. I would hunt it. I am heading to a new spot in the morning and another in the afternoon with high hopes!
 
Deer move 365 days a year no matter what the weather. The major difference in winter is that they're carrying their winter coats. Generally speaking I've found that during this time when temperatures exceed 50 degrees deer movement during daylight is greatly reduced. The exception might be a buck on a hot doe but if that doe isn't moving because of the temperature that buck isn't either. On days that start out colder and then reach into the 50s early morning hunts may produce but on those days that start out in the 50s I stay at home. I can hunt any day I want and for as long as I want. That affords me the luxury of "picking" better hunting days. For those that have limited time I can understand why they'd want to go whenever they could.

Yea I have always said I cannot pick my days off or the weather on my days off. I believe every rule is a generality. I shot the biggest buck of my life on November 29th of 1995 wearing a short sleeve shirt with temps in the mid 60s

I killed a 3.5 year old buck 2 weekends ago when it was around 60 degrees out. Wind was perfect too. DO IT!
 
If you are going where i think you are. We racing a clock there especially with another hunter in the area. Which a week day might be the edge you need

kind of what I'm thinking. Gonna go around the spot where you were, should I climb or can you see far enough on the ground from there?
 
Cant see far from ground all the way where i was just before i started seeing the heavy sign i was open but the thick stuff was where it was at! maybe 20 yds there was a tree at the edge to climb and maybe look down into the thicket. Idk

tough call. Hard to get in there without climber snagging in the thicket and making a lot of noise. If it's a lot of cedars then I definitely want to be on the ground. Might take climber in there on a cold day when it's worth the effort
