Should I go in the rain tomorrow?

is it worth getting up at 4am, driving an hour to the spot, and getting soaked? Weather.com shows a high chance of rain throughout the day, especially early morning. I'll only feel like going if it's not pouring hard and there's a good chance for deer movement. Say there's a good chance for deer movement already, now add the rainy weather and is it worth going or not?

I don't bowhunt in the rain..Just not worth it this early in the year.Now if the rut was on and it was muzzy or gun season,then i'd pack in my little tree stand umbrella and sit right in it.

Think I am going to try and sneak into one of my blinds without getting to soaked. Usually stay pretty dry in there. Wind should be right for 2 of mine, so just hoping it is not a massive Thunderstorm in the early AM.

well I don't have a blind or anything to keep dry... didn't think of getting burned out, but that is a valid thought and I might take a break as well. but I will be back at it on Tuesday....

Wish I had a blind set up somewhere I could go to. I would love to camp out in a blind all day with a book and some snackydoos and doze off and wake up and see a monster 10 pt at 20 yards. It can happen!!!

Like others, I Do Not bowhunt in the rain. It is not fair to the animal. However, this time of year, with a warm, gentle rain, the periods between showers can be awesome.

Im here now. Nice steady rain. Saw a lot of deer movement in the rain Friday. If it stops for 30 minutes you better be ready. Those deer can sneak right up on you without even knowing it with everything wet and all this greenery.

The rain is a great time to hunt as long as its just not unsafe lightning thunder huge winds but just a good rain is great time to be in the stand. When it stops it's like deer come from everywhere and your already there setup and washed scent free! Last night when it was raining pretty steady I had one of my target bucks come out in the last 15 minutes of light when it was raining the hardest. Unfortunately he never came closer than 80 yds....

well I slept in good and long this morning, and will be sitting in the woods tomorrow morning. Just didn't feel like getting soaked waiting for that 30 minute break in the rain.... plus, it helps to sleep in every few days so I can be more alert in the woods.

ooooh looking good, weather.com hourly forecast indicates "few showers" until 5am, then mostly cloudy. Wind from SW to SSW, so I will have to figger that out as I go, no treestand. Will bring a milkweed pod to help me out with the wind. Just need a good blowdown or bush to blend in with so I can draw my bow. Will probably set up within 10 yards of a good trail and won't shoot past 20 yards. Hope to see some deer in the A.M.

Just bring some cutters with you and make your own blind. That way you fan sit exactly where you want.i find a good tree and If I can find some good thin river cane I cut em at a 45 angle and stick them in the ground all around me so I can have my shooting holes just where I want them...any branches will do though. I've killed as many big bucks like that as I have from a stand...

great idea except that you can't cut live stuff on a WMA. I can use dead stuff though. Usually a thick patch of river cane has its dead stalks and I could use those if there's a patch nearby. But finding and setting up debris for a blind before dawn on the same morning of a hunt, not likely unless I walk up on a pile of dead logs or something. I could always build a blind on the way out, for next hunt, though.

If you are hunting the treestand cordanates i sent u there is a fallen tree right up the ridge i would sit there just sayin and if you dont like it look around at sun rise and adjust in nessasary look around not move around lol

yep I will look for it, but if it's not in the right spot for the wind direction, I will have to pick somewhere else. I am bringing milkweed pod to check the actual wind so I will know just where to go. Of course the wind usually changes after sunrise but I will be able to move around, it's ground hunting....
