I got a new to me Rock River Arms A.R., I really like the rifle wich I will be using for predator hunting but it only shoots a little over a one inch group at 100. I guess that's not bad but I'm used to clover-leafing at that distance. It's the stock barrel but I really don't want the weight of a bull barrel. Is this normal? Also, I'm shooting .223 through it, would it be better to go with the 5.56? It's a 1/9 twist 16" with a 55 grain factory ammo...?

I've got a S&W M&Pand would be ecstatic if I could get groups that small.

Still playing around with loads and bullet weights trying to get under 2 MOA.

An AR-15 is a battle rifle. Bolt guns are for precision work.
True, and I have a very precision bolt gun but it's a bear to carry! I actually think I will like this gun very well for predator/varmint hunting. That being said, if I was in battle, I would be even more concerned on my bullet hitting its mark! ;)

2 MOA will stay in a mans chest a long ways,,

Try different bullets and brands.

accuracy starts with the trigger. how is yours?

trigger and optics will make almost any rifle a shooter
I've got both of these covered. I fed it some Hornady 55gr vmax today and it tightened up pretty good, about 3/4" and I really wasn't rock solid on the sand bags. I think it will be fine out to a couple hundred.

That exceptional accuracy for a mass produced AR. I hope it serves you well. :)
