Hey guys. I have an old shotgun if by grandfathers that came from jc penny's. It's and auto 20 ga. Higgins I believe. Anyways, the extractor/ejector keeps breaking the rim off of shells. Any suggestions?
 
sounds like the shell is sticking in the chamber, id clean it really well & look for any burrs
 
take the barrel off and make sure there is no rust in the chamber. if you chamber a shell, will eject the loaded shell? or is it sticking just with the fired ones?

I agree with a rough chamber being the problem. It might have rust pits or just be dirty. If you have a dremel tool or just a drill so that you can spin a rag covered with polishing compound in the chamber, it should smooth up the surface and not make it so hard to pull the fired shell out.
