OK does it change beyond 150 yards? I tend to aim at vitals at that distance but will aim high shoulder at 100 yards.

It shouldnt change as long as your bullet still has enough energy to cleanly kill the deer

But your accuracy can change quite a bit at that range depending on your gun. Much past 90-100 yards I always aim center vitals because it's a bigger target.
 
great info. I tried it on a doe at 30 yds last night. Fell right where she stood. Did not take a single step.
 
It drops them fast but meat damage can be high too.

high center shoulder! breaks both shoulders and spines them. A muzzleloader bullet ain't moving fast enough to shock them to the ground with a heart/lung,least that's what I have seen. It'll kill them, but a high shoulder ends it right there. Same with a shotgun slug.
 
Been takin out shoulders for years. I was taught to shoot behind the shoulder when I was younger because we ate every lb of meat. I'd rather sacrifice some meat and watch em fall!
 
A spine shot will definitely drop one right there, but unfortunately will require a 2nd shot to put them down. Had that happen twice to me over the years. Don't like it, but it does happen I reckon. :(
