I shot a pretty good buck this evening and I know he is hit but there are no blood at all but I found 2 pieces of bone, where do you think I hit this deer and is he still alive? I looked for 2hrs and found absolutely nothing else.by the way he was slightly quartering too me.

Where were you holding? I can't imagine finding bone without also finding hair and at least some blood. I would start back at first light focusing on finding where the deer was standing when you shot.

Sounds like front leg to me. Usually will bleed, but might not. I'd keep looking in case it was a shoulder shot that just didn't bleed good for some reason. If you hit shoulder, he should be dead. Good luck.

Usually bone will indicate a leg shot. There isn't much else with bone close to the skin except rib and there should also be a lot of blood with rib bone but not with leg. The buck will bed down but be ready for a follow up shot when he jumps. They can haul on three legs. If you find small drops of blood, that will also indicate a leg shot. Good luck.

What he said. Been there done that. Finally did recover the unicorn buck tho.

Well I looked for 3.5 hrs this morning with no other sign what so ever, never even found a single drop of blood and the 2 bone pieces I found was probably 20-30 yards from the shot location, I really believe he is still living.
