shot an XD for the first time

XD's, Glocks, M&P's, and every other polymer framed, high cap pistola are fighting guns first, range guns second. Sure, on a range few can compare to a good 1911 w/a super short reset and a 3.5# pull, but that was never their purpose. Try a Glock 34 w/a 3.5# trigger connector. I think you will change your mind.

The triggers (speaking for my M&P45) take a little getting used to; I like single action for the crispness. But, after 500 rounds or so I can shoot my M&P just as fast and just as accurate with higher capacity compared to my 1911's. I love the M&P but it did take some time to get used to the "feel" of the trigger.

Stik I dont know much if anything about hguns but I would say that polymer is the next thing.

I did shoot a buddy's 1911A this weekend. I do like the single action as well, maybe that's why I mostly carry a Sigp238 around with me in my pants pocket, but not cocked and locked.

But the XD is far and away the most accurate handgun I own. With the dual safety system, AND being a plastic "POS", I can carry it with me fishing or hunting without too many worries about the weather. :D

for clarification, i never intended to imply that the XD or a glock is a POS. i know they are well made weapons and preferred by many. that's just what they felt like to me. as for the weather, my kimber is stainless :D

them heavy guns be makin my draws fall down

Thats the main reason why I never carried my 1911. Too heavy and long. It just stayed in the safe. Eventually traded my 1911. It sure was a sweet shooter though.

Those Kimbers make a good doorstop don't they... :D
Just having some fun..very nice weapon

I finally got to handle an XD the other day and I liked it much more than I intended to. It pointed better than any pistol I've picked up in a long time. I believe it was the 9MM compact. I've been asking around at work if anyone has one. If that don't pan out, guess I'll rent one. I'm dying to shoot it.
