Completely broadside, 30yards, Parker Blackhawk XP 65lbs, g5 montecs...shot was a little back and a tad high. Waited about 30 minutes to see any sign. No blood but followed obvious footprints down logging road. About 75 yards found the arrow broke. The blood line on the broken arrow measured up to be around 4-5" of penetration. Followed tracks down the hill, about 35-40 yards and heard a deer blow twice about 100 yards away, but never heard the deer cut out. Found my first small drop of blood 150-200 yards away from broken arrow on flat ground, and then found 3-4 more small drops, like it was coming out of the nose because the blood was on the opposite side of the entrance spot. Then down the hill again following tracks until we just couldn't pick up anything! Do you guys think this deer will be found in the morning? Is 4-5" enough penetration?

It wasn't way far back, if anything it was more high than it was back from the sweet spot. I don't know if this matters but the blood I did find wasn't coming from the right side, a few drops where way on the left side of the track making me think it was blood coming from the nose

If you found both parts of the arrow, I bet you shot him through his leg. That would cause little penetration, little blood, and as it broke both arrow halves would fall out.

Here's why I was so adamant about finding him
