I don't really have a clue where I hit him but gave him 2 hrs and follow blood like in the pix for about 80-100 yds and it just quit...I was using a ragebroad head shot out of a barnett predator, I had zero blood on the bolt...what happened any guesses?

After seeing that pic in the old thread of the doe with the scar from the bow that looks like a double lung + heart shot I'm convinced they can do more than we think. Im guessing a jump or spill or something caused an organ or tissue to dislodge and plug the holes. Just think if he lived another 30 seconds, @ 20 mph he can be over 200 yds away in any direction...

I'm guessing you shot low and just cut the under side of the deer, I've done that before

It did have white hairs in my broadhead...but at 20ft at 20 yards??

Could have been a leg hit, as well. They can bleed a lot for a distance, and then stop bleeding suddenly.

If i dont hear em crash, i wait like you did for a couple hours. You could of hit the liver and barely clipped the diaphragm. Did you smell the arrow? I usually grab a leaf with blood on it and take a sniff to see if it hit any stomach or intestines. Good luck finding him.

Mark the blood trail, at the last spot where blood is maybe the deer turned. Start making circles where the blood ended and go bigger on eack circle

It looks like he was standing still and dripping in that photo.
I have seen leg shot deer bleed like that. If a deer stands still for a minute and drips blood every few seconds it can be decieving. Possibly front leg or briskett. I think if they are not mortally wounded they sometimes stop and try to figure their best move and also are checking to see if they are being pursued.
Did you find blood sprayed on any leaves or trees up off the ground?

None off the ground but blood stead for about 80-100 yds, so much I steady walked without slowing. After the shot he sprinted super fast off.

Yep sounds like a heart shot.

yup, that's a dead deer... and probably pretty close to where you last lost the blood

Two years ago I shot a deer at a fairly steep angle quartering slightly forward (not my best shot selection, admittedly). I had good blood, followed it for 100 yards and it stopped immediately. I wound up finding her another 150 yards away, with a lot of luck. The shot entered behind the shoulder, got one lung, liver, through diaphram and out low behind last rib. Didn't get guts, but exited around the abdomen. A small part of in-tact intestine had come through the exit wound (2" rage) and completely plugged the hole and stopped the blood flow. Just as dead, but impossible to track after the hole got plugged.

Great description, glad you found that deer. I believe this happens a lot...I also believe they can endure some serious injuries from archery hunting.
