I left work in a mad dash to get out to my hunting spot. I picked a great evening to leave work early. 7 does were in the field I have to cross to get to my stand but I couldn't get a shot off. They left and I went to my stand in the woods. Right at last shooting light, I heard something coming my way behind my stand.

I turned just in time to see a big coyote under my stand. I grabbed my bow, he/she sensed something and turned around and ran about 20 yards. I pulled back and let it fly! Heard it hit hard and the coyote growled and ran off looking real hurt. I forgot my flashlight in the barn so I had to go back and get it to look for it. I couldn't find my blood trail again and had to get home. Will coyotes eat their own if it is dead or will it still be there in a couple of days? It is in a great hunting spot as well so I don't want to go tracking all around and getting my scent in a good spot. What should I do?

nothing seems to eat dead coyotes... even the buzzards have to be really desperate to work on them.

I used to think that, because when i would shoot them and dump them nothing would mess with them, but i shot one during turkey season that got away from me. I found it a week or two later, when I walked up on some buzzards eating it.
