Short Draw Length

I've never really been into bow hunting mainly because of being handicapped on my short draw length(26.5) lol. I know speed ain't everything but if I got back into bow hunting I would like to be able to at least shoot 305 to 310 fps. I know light arrows help with speed but I don't want to go too light. I've read a couple things on releases that help give an inch or so to your draw length but I don't know if it changes my anchor point or if it would be comfortable. I just don't want to waste money on a speed bow if I can't shoot over 300 fps. Any suggestions?

People kill with recurves and longbows all the time. Your fps will still be way faster than theirs. I wouldn't worry much about being over 300

The RPM 360 From Bowtech with 70 lb limbs and some 350ish weighted arrows should get you there. It's gonna be close.

With that said I will take heavier arrows and sacrifice weight over speed any day. With 70 lb limbs I would prefer over 400 grain arrows but that is just me.

Chasing 305 with a 26.5" draw is not a good idea IMO. I'd rather see you shoot a bow that is comfortable for you, match an arrow to the bow, and use a good broadhead (cut on contact if you worry about penetration).

A balanced setup performs very well, and will outperform a speed setup in many instances.

Thanks guys. The good thing about my t-rex arms is that pulling back 70 lbs is no struggle at all lol. I agree that accuracy and having a comfortable bow trumps speed, I just want the best of both worlds.

I killed more deer with my Ben Pearson spoiler than any bow I own. Like others have said, I wouldn't worry about speed, as it's only part of the equation.

To get 300 fps with 26.5" draw you'll have to draw a super aggressive speed bow at a high draw weight and shoot lightweight arrows. Combine those 3 and not optimal for hunting IMO. Find a bow that you can comfortably shoot and hold at full draw for at least 10 seconds without breaking down in form.
