`shooting uphill ???

shot my 223 and Daddys 260 after work today,,firing line is at 618 feet elevation,,the target at 1,018 yards is at 853 feet elevation,,conditions were dead calm temps in the 50`s,,

my 223 75 gr load took almost 7 Minutes more elevation than my confirmed dope on flat ground,,

this was my first trip to 1,000 with the 260 but my first shot was 4 1/2 Minutes low.

how would a 235 feet rise in elevation over 1,000 yards effect your adjustments??

and is anybody here smart enough to figure out how many degrees of angle 235 feet at 1,000 yards would be???

If you measured the target's distance in a straight line the you can do the A squared + B squared = C squared I got a distance of 1044 yards.

I wouldn't think that would cause you to have to come up that much more with your .223, but you could at the end of your range where the drop is almost straight down.

That is the only thing I can think of.

the difference in 1,000 and 1,050 yards with the 260,,by my cheat sheet is 3 1/2 Minutes,,the other 1 Minute off is very close just going off my program for the first shot,,

from 1,000 to 1,050 with the 223 is just over 5 Minutes.

I can live with that,,,I just need to figure out a way to calculate the angle and adjust for it..

Pretty much what he said. arctan(235/3000) = 4.479�

so a thousand with a 4.5 degree rise shoots like 1050 ??

I don't know the angle, I just know what the distance is if he measured the distance in a straight line without adding the angle. But I would say that is probably close to the angle and distance.

range finder wont range it,,but by Google Earth it is 1,018 yards straight line and 235 feet rise in elevation,

Is the 1018 a horizontal distance or straight line distance?
