shooting small buck

I let a small buck by me that had about 2 inch spikes, didn't think i could shoot it because it isnt a legal buck. Some guys where i work said you can shoot it and tag it as a male deer but antlerless. Is it legal to shoot a buck with spikes smaller that 3 inches.
 
as a reminder, the seasons aren't for "buck" or "doe", they are for antlered or non-antlered.

If it was for male deer only, you'd have to check between the legs before firing a shot. There are some rare instances where does can grow antlers!

my family made a roast in the crock pot a few days ago from a button buck...... real tender good meat! thats why you would shoot one that young!

what's disrespectful about shooting a small buck? I have shot a bunch of does this year. Only reason I'm passing up smaller bucks is because I only get 3 tags and have 1 left. I don't shoot bigger bucks to show I'm more manly than someone else. If I was having a bad season I'd shoot a small buck in a heartbeat and would be proud of it. My first deer ever was a yearling 5 pt and I'm still happy about it.

I am a man , I have pride and respect. I will still shoot what I want if it is leagle and don't look down my noise at anyone.
 
I get really excited when i am able to shoot small bucks.... The smile that comes over my face knowing I annoyed the hell out of someone by shooting a small buck just makes the meat taste even better...
 
if you buy a permit to shoot a deer that is what it is.shoot what you wish and dont bash somebody because of what they kill each person has a different look on what a trophy is in their eye .me i shoot what i want big or small if i like it i shoot it .
