In the market to buy my Dad a shooting bench for Christmas. Needs to be easily adjustable for right and left handed shooters. Any recommendations? Thanks.

A good rest like a Lead Sled on a picnic table is all a man really needs. All the portable shooting benches I've ever seen still need some sort of rest to sit on them before you'll have something. All they have are a place to rest the fore end of the gun. Nothing to hold the butt.

I built this Shooting Bench myself for about 80.00 bucks. The legs screw off for easy transport and it is rock solid when put together.

Read this on how I built mine. One of the best parts is that the adjustable-length legs allow you to use it on hilsides or uneven ground. You could accomplish the same thing with rdl65's bench by having several legs of different lengths. If I was going to use mine for more than a few times each year, I'd build his design.

Thank you Jakeway! I looked all over for that thread yesterday and never could find it. Had a guy give me one of those saw horses a couple weeks ago and I'm gonna build a bench out of it. Nice work.
