All you vol fans should be excited about the vol defense this year. I've got a feeling things are gonna look different on that side of the ball. Much more aggressive.
 
The vols Defense was solid last season. They were just missing that big dagger blow in the 4th to close games.

Like the 4th & forever they gave up against Florida to lose the game!

Like that Oklahoma late game drive, were they had Mayfield dead to rights in the back field multiple times only for him to brake 3 tackles, and throw the ball 15 yards down range for the game winning drive. Didn't they complete like three 4th downs on that drive?

I think Shoop will put a stop to that kinda stuff. And will put together one of the best defenses in the SEC/Country like he has everywhere else he has coached.
 
Im excited to see what the D looks like. Shoop seems like he has a headhunter mentality. I think it will be fun to watch.




Donkey, Baker Mayfield is one slick individual. He did that same stuff all season. I dont like him but he is a decent QB. OK did convert on several 4th downs. Two or three of them was converted thanks to Colton Jumper who was playing MLB and should not have been on the field. He got called for several holding calls allowing OK to convert.

Yeah Mayfield is a Heck of a player, and did do the same thing to a few other teams, but if your gonna be a 10+ game winner you can't Allow a guy do that to YOUR team. They had him wrapped up a few times and just let go it seemed like.

The Jumper flags were bad he looked totally lost you could tell he was not ready for a big game situation. I don't think you will see guys looking that lost under shoop.

I like it :tu: if a guy who has had a top 25 defenses 4 straight years. 3 in the SEC with vandy two of them inside the top 20.
And the other with Penn state where he won defensive coordinator of the year! After leading a defense that just allowed 270 yards a game 2ed in FBS. Says something like that I have no reason not to believe him :tu:
 
Yeah think he had the 18th &19th best defenses in the country when coaching Vandy who just happen to play in the toughest division in football. He proved it was not a fluke by doing it 4 years in a row with 2 different teams.

It's scary to think he will be able to do with Mack,tuttle,Sutton,Kongbo, Reeves Mayben,Warrior,Barnett, Kirkland JR, Todd KellyJR....... the list goes on that Defense truly is loaded at about every position.

Hey Mudbone since you watched Shoop's work for 3 years at vandy. What do you think he will do year 1 with the vols? Top 25 defense? Top 20? top 15?

Did you mean conference, or are you claiming the SEC East is the toughest division in college football?

As for Shoop I like what I've read and what he's done especially at Vandy was impressive. I hope he can get it done on the hill.
 
What's past games against top 10 teams, rebuilding memes,the coin toss memes about winning, got to do with Shoop??

DKjr should have started from the beginning. His talent and speed would have overcome most mistakes he would have made. He had an impressive year for a freshman. I expect him to do even better things this year.
 
Good looking linebacker, espeacially a freshman!! If we had Stoops last year I can only imagine how differently our season would have been! 4 major games blown in the 4th by defensive strategy
 
Really excited to see how the D performs as a unit under Shoop.
Has the potential to be nasty.
We are finally out of Dooley's shadow. Butch had a full team of his recruits to work with.

It looks like it. Sophomore Bo Scarbrough (6'2", 240#, 5* recruit) looks like a Derrick Henry clone and is getting all of the press, while Damien Harris (another sophomore, also a 5*) was the MVP of the spring game. Between the two of them it appears Saban has reloaded pretty well.
My biggest concern right now is center, which I think is the most critical line position in Bama's scheme. Ryan Kelly was pretty much the best center in college football (Rimington Award, first round draft pick), and his shoes are going to be pretty tough to fill.

The main problem Tennessee had last year was finishing games. Thats one of the main things shoop and butch have to do is win a big game. Butch has proved he can get the vols a winning record but still hasn't won against top teams or top conference rivals. hopefully shoop can help fix that for yall.
