Shell/catridge carrier on the rifle stock

Here's a stupid question: How do you put them on?

I know it's as easy as sliding it down the barrel end towards the stock, but I have a scope on my rifle. I don't want to take the scope off, since it's sighted in. And it's too hard to pull it over the gun stock.

Any ideas?

They go on over the butt end and yep can be a pain to get on one even more so if the stock has a check piece. No punn intended

Easy to do, take the action out of the stock and slip it on and put action back in. Done.
