sheds and velvet

Hey everyone, I was curious to about when the deer would start shedding and also about when they would start putting velvet back on. For the life of me I can't remember. I know they should be shedding soon, but can't remember when they will be putting racks back on. Thanks for the help.

I believe some have already started shedding their antlers. but I have seen them hang onto them for quite a while longer. several factors goes into play as to when they lose them.

jan-feb then mid april is usually a good bet on both your questions

They can shed in late December or hold onto them into April, and start growing new ones after that. The healthiest deer will hold onto their antlers until the new velvet pushes the old rack off.

Most bucks in TN drop antlers in late February through March. Most start growing new antlers in mid to late April.
