Saturday evening I was on KY lake in the back of a creek where baitfish were plentiful. It was as calm as it could be. Something in the boat made a noise and the minnows jumped out of the water. I clapped my hands and it happened again and again so it wasn't just a coincidence. I have never seen anything act like this besides carp. Someone please tell me this is a characteristic of some type of shad.

emerald shiners will flick out of the water about a foot or so. baby carp will leap about 3 feet.

i posted pics a few years ago of 3" carp leaping out of the water when they last spawned. they were also accompanied by larger nurse carp jumping out of the water.

We've been catfishing and coming in at night. The shad hve been so thick in the creeks they have been jumping like those carp with out lights and wake. We've been cat netting for bait and it only takes 2-3 throws to have plenty. Crazy how thick they are
