seeding question

I planted wheat, clover and rape on the 18th of Sept. and had excellent preparation of soil. I mean it was really pulverized. It was so fine that when I sowed the seed it would sink into the soil. My question is if the soil is covering the seed will the turkeys and dove put a hurt on it anyway? There are turkey tracks everywhere but I had the seed covered. Will I have to re seed it?
 
I as well done the same on Sept 12-13. I am goming to wait and see what comes up after a good rain then top sew some wheat in spots if needed. No need to thow it out until you know the facts about the real condition of you plots/seed. You will probably be ok and will get a good stand of wheat. Turkey's & doves just like the bare ground and hopefully didn't get enough seed to even notice. Keep you fingers crossed... rain is coming.
 
My hope is just like you said, they like the bare ground because it looks like a million turkeys have walked through the plots but it is hard to think that they could dig up the seeds and eliminate my plot. I think I will throw some more wheat down but go with the clover and rape as is.
 
Clover and rape will be fine. If you can't see where they have done a ton of scratching you may be ok. A couple of turkey's can make a ton of tracks in about 15 mins! If your plots have not sprouted yet it want take but a little rain and about 48 hours and you will how they will look as far as the wheat go's.
You may be suprized at least I hope you are. I hope the same for my plots. I put in about 5 1/2 acres just before gustav and they got little rain but I have not been to them yet. Hoping for the best myself.

Thanks for the encouragement. I believe you are certainly right and I have wondered just how many turkeys there really are. I was there today putting out wheat in anticipation of rain and it seemed those suckers were just following me around. I counted 11. I believe I will be ok now with the wheat even if they eat alot between now and tomorrow night. I wonder how much wheat is too much before it starts to take away from the clover.
