Food Plots Seed opinions needed

I was going to seed my plot with winter wheat and peas, and have a guy till it under for me.

Now I call Knox Seed, they have a mix of wheat, peas, rye, oats, and clover, but they say it doesn't really need to be tilled.

I don't know that I would gain anything out of the rye and the oats.

I am thinking of doing the wheat and peas, then coming back after its tilled and toss clover and drag it.

Any opinions?

Peas need to be worked in the ground somehow, IMO. Its always good to offer more variety, again IMO. Your plan will work either way.

I like your plan, but throw wheat pleas, till, drag THEn throw clover.

Rye and oats imo are very good. I plant some every year and the deer love them. I just broadcast them then pull a harrow over them.

I plant winter peas, oats and white clover together every year for my fall plot . The deer seem to like the oats better than the wheat at my place . Then i can turn this under the next year or leave the clover for an extra year . Ive tried all the name brand high priced seed but the co-op seed does as good as anything ive used

I'd use the entire mix. Deer are likely to not eat one or more of the plants but that's the beauty of a mix compared to a single plant food plot, the deer are much more likely to find at least one they will eat in the mix.

Thanks for all the ideas guys, I bought some wheat and peas today. I can top coat and drag anytime, I will see how these germinate.

We disk, drag , sow......wheat and or oats.....drag.....then sow clover.
