There is an article in Farmers Business Network that 71% of seed brands only relabeled someone else's seed. The question we need to ask ourselves is who's seed are we buying. As a hunter that has to watch where I spend my extra money I sure don't want to pay for a nice picture of a huge buck while only getting who knows who's seed. If these seed suppliers were so confident of their seed there would be no need for these pictures only a top notch seed in a plain bag. More money spent on the buck pic. than any research they claim to have performed on the seed. If your magic seeds comes in these dream bags then you are paying too much. If they will do this to the farmer how much you think they are raising the price when they take the seed from the plain bag to the big buck bag
 
Agree, i don't buy anything with a picture on it... i get my seeds at co-op..... if it's good enough for farmers that depend on it for their income to support their family it's good enough to plat for deer....
 
Co op seed is what I use also. Never had any problems and you get way more for way less $$$! But a lot of people like the buck on the bag products. I love seeing the throw and grow little bag at stores for $20 and it's like a 10 lb bag of pretty much wheat and a 50 lb bag of wheat at the co op is $8 .

Yeah i'm a label reader..... i see the pretty bags on sale from time to time and they are mostly filled with seeds that you can get dirt cheap at co-op...
I will say that a really good place to get brassicas/Radish's is Deer Creek Seed Co.... you can get a 5lb bag of Rape for less than $11.....I think the Daikon "deer radish" is $15 for 5Lb

Advertising and the right pictures on the bag makes us have a tendency to have expectations that are not attainable because those deer are no where to be found where we hunt. We connect the seed advertised with the buck killed on our favorite hunting show and it leads us to think all we need is this product and our dreams will come true. Claims of research done, field tested and the bucks to prove it. All this has a tendency to change our hunting for rest and relaxation to an attitude I have to kill a monster buck because I done everything they done on my show and they were able to achieve the results they were after so the problem must be with me and frustration sets in and the funs gone.
 
How many of y'all order your seeds? I don't think shipping is worth it as cheap as wheat is local but when I bought turnips at the coop I had a choice of an ounce, 4 ounces and 5 pounds. The 4 ounce pack was 4.49/pack. The 5 pounder was $22.

That's cheap......do they have smaller bag options? like 5Lb?
 
From a seed guy here locally..................Vince, plant feed seed and you get as good as you need for food plots................and the germination is really good. Remember, we aren't planting to harvest, we are planting to feed. Basic wheat is just dandy for that. Gave me that advice 10 years ago, and I still listen to him. We do get some thru the NWTF but its based on the fact we get it around 7 or less , and even feed wheat usually runs about 9. But I never worry about buying the name branded stuff. I only buy a bag or two because the blended 60/40 wheat to oats is really attractive. and they include some winter peas. we plant 60 fields so it isn't economical to go expensive in any manner.
