Screwed up one of my Glocks...

Last night I decided to do the old 25 cent trigger job on a couple of my Glocks. I did the G21 SF first and had no problems.

Next, I did the G17. I finish it up, and am testing it. I grab an empty magazine.. rack the slide.. it locks back properly. Seems fine. I grab a round and load it in to the magazine. I toss the magazine in.. rack the slide.. it tries to load the round but jams.

What the heck?

I clear it.. try again.. jams. Round wouldn't load in to the barrel. Very weird..

I tried a third time. Same result.

I disassemble the gun again... don't see anything wrong.. put it back togther. Try again.. jams.

Now I'm flustered. I put it down, and leave the room for a minute. Then it hits me...

I went back, took the round out of the magazine and inspected it.

Folks.. you can't load a .40 in to a 9mm. :blush: :whistle:

that was the point i realized i really needed reading glasses
i tried putting a 338mx in my 308mx and my nephew looked at it and told me i had picked up the wrong shells

So whats this .25 cent trigger job? Does it work on other pistole's like SA XD?

It just involves polishing some parts (connector, trigger bar, firing pin, firing pin safety) to make the trigger pull a little more smooth. It isn't a huge difference, but is worth the short time it takes in my opinion. Basically you're just smoothing over any metal to metal contact areas.

You could certainly do the same for an XD, although I don't have one and am not personally familiar with them. If you're comfortable detail stripping it, just break it down and examine it. See what you think. The key is to understand that you're only trying to polish the metal - not reshape it. You don't want to round off any edges or anything like that. Just make it smooth.. nothing more.

I know what you're saying, but I pity the man who has but one gun. Anything mechanical can break, I want redundancy!

I've just never seen or heard of a glock that needed modifying, and yes I am fully capable of making that same mistake:)
 
The only issues I have ever seen with any Glock has been when someone tried to make it "better". The best way to smooth out the Glock trigger is to shoot it. Then shoot it some more. I does not take many rounds to accomplish this either.
