I got a chance to scout and hunt yesterday afternoon. The white oaks where I'm at are raining acorns, the deer are hitting them but not just killing them. Chinkapins have yet to start dropping but the trees look loaded. It's also obvious the bucks are starting to set some boundaries; scrapes are starting to pop up here and there. The deer are hitting persimmons harder than usual, my guess is because it's so dry and the fruit has lots of moisture in them. I hunted two loaded trees in the afternoon located in a bedding area and had a big split g2 buck come in and eat right before the end of shooting light. I drew back on him but decided not to shoot him, I'm kind of second guessing it now but he looked like a 3 year old to me and my goal is to shoot 4+. He was probably the biggest buck I've passed with my bow in about 10 years. Man it was fun though

Sounds about the same with the pin oaks being loaded on my place, but just now beginning to drop. Whiteoaks are as well.

Man where are you that chinkapins are loaded? I haven't found hardly any this year with fruit, Williamson and Maury counties, it's mostly red oaks loaded and dropping everywhere with the occasional loaded white oak.

I do have a video of that buck, but I don't have a photo bucket anymore. Is there an easy way to post it? I've got a little JVC handheld camera mounted on my bow this year for filming. I got a lot of footage last year with my phone but I wanted a better zoom for this year.

I'm mostly in Williamson catman. They aren't dropping anything yet but they defiantly have lots of acorns. All I can say is hunt the persimmons right now the deer are hitting them right when they come off the bed in the afternoon and right before they bed in the mornings. It has to be because of the moisture content in the fruit, everything is burned up where I'm at. We haven't had rain in forever.

I will keep that in mind. Seen more loaded persimmons this year than I ever have before.

I have a persimmons tree and it is not being touched. There are persimmons all over the ground rotting. I have no idea why the deer arent eating them.

I've seen that too grand slam. I've got some trees they never eat and others they hammer. The ones they are hitting it looks like tilled up dirt under the trees. I've thought about taking a soil test under the trees they hit and the ones they don't just to see if it has something to do with the soil.
