Paid $80 for this Globe Chefmate meat slicer with a 12" blade. It needs new feet ($6 each) and could use a new power cord as well (can get one from lowes). Also needs a deep clean and some oil. Other than that, it works good. Still has the built in sharpener. Hopefully I will be able to turn a whole deer into jerky slices pretty quick. I think I got a good deal on it....

Catman-

Not all the deer is strips. You are gonna need a decent grinder. Now, a name brand grinder can run anywhere from 100 to $500.00 bucks so you have to look like i did. There is a thread in this forum about my stupid cheap grinder

viewtopic.php?f=30&t=269216&p=3541889#p3541889 and believe ity or not, the 2000 is till available

The new and improved grinder is on Ebay. There are multiple auctions. Just pick a final price, bid that amount, and if you win, you get it for what you want to pay.

Good Luck!!!

Don't wanna Steal Catman's unreal bargain which I wish I had picked off somehow. That set up will slice rare roast beef into the nicest sandwich fixins. Have at it Mr. C.

lol nope his boss used to own the place where I work, and had no use for that slicer sitting on 2 legs collecting dust and grime. He only wanted $80... So far I've got $25 in for new feet and $12 for a new power cord. Lots of elbow grease today cleaning it out good. Can't wait for the feet to come in the mail.

thanks man, a good grinder will have to come sooner or later. I've spent enough this year already so it will wait till later...I do have a household grinder that works OK, enough for me to make chili all winter and that's what I like it for.

Good deal. Our 20 yr old one isn't worth a flip anymore without a new blade. Think my wife couldn't find one online, though. Congrats on yours.

I assume it's just dull. Doesn't slice worth a dern anymore. I'll have to check for what kind it is.

look closely at the angle of the edge and run a stone over it while the slicer is running. Be careful and don't blame me if you cut yourself :D

Great deal! I bought a commercial Hobart last year from a member for 150, and I stole it. It also came with the sharper. Perfect slices every time.

Dang you did steal that, Hobart is top of the line.

I figured out how to disassemble the slide bar underneath that the meat tray rides on. It was gummed up bad with greasy filth. Scrubbed the crap out of it and put a little gun oil on the bar, slides smooth and easy now. Also put the new legs on, some of the holes were stripped out so I just went and used JB weld.

Butcher room is coming together finally. Just need a couple more trays for the dehydrator, and some cleaning sprays and rags to keep in there as well.

Nice! In case you didn't already know this, raw meat will slice MUCH better if it is almost frozen. Pretty stiff but not frozen hard.

I know it will, but between 2 jobs and deer hunting I doubt I will be able to time it right with half-freezing the meat. I will mostly just slice it fresh off the deer.
