I have attached pictures of this deer I had pictures of all last year and let him go several times. What do you all think he could score this year and do you think the wound to his back will affect him. He was a 6 point 2 years ago at 1 1/2 and a basket rack 8 last year at 2 1/2. I started calling him patches due to the extra white marks he has on his legs.

Above average for age class for sure. Also, interesting version of piebald. I don't think the wound on his back (likely from archery) will affect him. He looks to be around 95" as a 2 y/o, so I'd suspect he'd be around 125" this year as a 3.5 y/o. If he keeps it up, he'd likely break 140" as a 4.5 y/o.

This is what you call a "Basket Rack"??? Throw me a few of your rejects then 'cause I'd be tickled with him as he was last season.

Depends on where your at in the state guys. That's a typical 2.5 year old basket around here.

As far as his score jump there's no telling. Sometimes the biggest jump is from 2.5-3.5. Let's hope he adds G4's an is a 135" three year old.

I agree! My guess would be between 115-120

don't name him patches. he wont last long with that name!!!

Yeah. Idon't think he will make it through this coming season anyway. That spot on his back was from where he decided to leave my property and visit a neighbor's on thanksgiving. We hunt steep terrain they must have been way lower on the hill from him and just barely scraped his back with the bullet.

For real Hunter? This size deer is hard to come by in your area?

Darn tootin' it is. That buck's 2 1/2 year rack is about equal to the racks of the largest 3 1/2 year old I've ever got a trail camera shot of on my farm since 2004. Don't make much sense either since some of our corn yielded over 250 bushels/acre last year and agriculture has been like that all my life around there.

Wow, can't believe you didn't cull him. Looks a like a for sure cull buck in the first pic. NOT! But I sure have been told that many times.

The wound does look like it came from archery and I don't see it being an issue. Appears to be 85-95 inches right now. Hopefully he'll get on up to around 120-130 for next year! We've seen the biggest jump in antler size from 2.5 to 3.5 in our neck of the woods. Good luck!
