Ok. My dad gave me his M70 30-06 lightweight 11 years ago as a college graduation present. It's nothing fancy but I'm nostalgic and want to trick this sucker out. I currently have a 3x9x40 Nikon pro staff scope. And as far as I know everything is as it came from the factory. The gun was bought in the mid 80's and is in really good shape and has shot a bunch of deer.
1st - I want to upgrade the scope. I like the Nikon fine and plan on putting it on another gun. I want something with 12x and a 50mm. My budget is $350 for glass. What do you guys recommend? I have no problem with used or refurbished. I would like something other than a Nikon. I own 2 of their scopes and some binocs and want to spread my money around.
2nd - trigger adjustment. How much does this normally cost? What weight of pull do you recommend?
3rd - recoil pad. This gun kicks like a mule. Maybe I'm a wuss but it hurts when shooting at something that doesn't bleed. Again what would you recommend?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
