Scope vs red dot

3-9x40 VX1 vs red dot on an AR-15 carbine for a calling setup. All shot opportunities well within 200 yards probably 90% within 100.

I like a scope unless it is real close

I have never tried a red dot.I would stick with scopes myself

They have their place. For a youth scope first time Hunter it's great to explain just put the dot on the deer and press the trigger. I think the Helicopter ar15 delta points have thier place for quick accusation style hunting.

For more advanced hunting and low light I still think a low power conventional cross hair scope is the way to go.
