Scope Rings Question

I have a Encore 7mm mag barrel that I going to put a Leupold VX-L 4.5-14X56mm LR on. I'm wanting to use a Leupold duel dovetail base. My question is how tall of rings do I need?

ditto,i would try high with understanding that they didn't work i could swap them for xhigh.

I bet you can get by with mediums... the vx-L's really mount low, as that's their intended purpose.

I think it supposed to mount like a 40mm scope.

I went to the Leupold web site, and it said low or mediums. It depends on the contour of the barrel, on which one you have to use.

It would be best to have both on hand so you can try each set. You want your scope to sit as low as possible without touching the barrel.... this helps with long-range accuracy.

betting high or x high

Heavy or bull maybe? My guess -- x-high w/56mm. I wouldn't waste time on high.

Well I have the scope mounted. I went with mediums Rings, and I could have used the low ones. With the mediums I have about 3/16" between the barrel and scope.

Well that's enough gap to get a cleaning rag in between....
