I hunt some on a Army base where you can only hunt with a shotgun or muzzle loader. I have bought a fully rifled slug barrel for my 870 12 ga. It has a cantilever scope mount on it. The question is what scope to buy. I have seen several different scopes. Wanting opinions from those who use scoped slug guns. How are the Tru Glow scopes? Do I need to sell the house to get a good scope for my shotgun. I have plenty of rifle scopes but something tells me they may not work well on a shotgun.

Do not buy a cheapo scope. The recoil of slugs guns will have a negative effect on cheapskate scopes. But you don't have to break the bank. I have a Nikon, but any quality scope will do. Price point over $100 is a good starting point. No need for a 12 power scope either. 2x7 or 3 x 9 is plenty

Have an 1187 slug gun. Put a Nikon Pro Staff on it. We have ran several hundred slugs through it and it has been flawless... so far.

I have a Savage 220 slug gun that I topped with a Leupold Ultimate Slam 3-9X40 fire dot I loved it so much I put the same scope on my muzzleloader. You can get the scope with or without the fired dot but it is great for low light situations.
