Scope Decision TC Encore Muzzeloader

Just purchased a TC Encore Muzzeloader. Pondering what scope to get for it. My dad has an Omega with the Nikon Omega BDC Redicle Scope. Anyone using this scope on their Encore? I like the idea of being able to shoot out to 250 yards with this scope.

Any other ideas for scope choice would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for the max range I can get out of the Encore muzzeloader. Planning a trip to Illinois next year and I want to be able to make a long shot if needed. Thanks.

I have a 3x9x40 Leupold on my encore, but I got a really good deal from a guy where I live. Leupold also make a scope like the BDC redical scope and you can adjust the redical to what you're using for a bullet if I read that part right. Haven't seen one yet or heard from anyone who has one, but I like the idea of being able to adjust it. I think they are pretty reasonably priced for a Leupold scope aslo.

Ive got a Nikon Omega BDC Redicle on my encore I like it. But Ive never used BDC Redicle to adjust for yardage.

Funny you mention the Leopold scope. It is called "Boone and Crockett" and I just purchased one for my Dad for his 270. 3.5-10x50. He is putting it on a Browning Abolt 270. Guess I can let him be my guinea pig.

I used the Boone&Crockett reticle on my Savage to take a deer last year at 326 yards.

While it works, a better way to play is installing M1 dials and dial in your range.

I have the Nikon Omega scope on my TC ML,and don't like anything about the scope,escept for the retical ballistic feature.
Poor glass,and low light gathering is not good.

I had deer in my swarovski binos,then went to my ML,and could not see a thing.

Im a Leupold VX-III fan, but for the best scope for the money the Zeiss Conquest is what I am putting on mine.
From what I have read, it is very similar in performance to the VX-III,but at a lower cost.
Fulldraw knows where to buy at a good price with a discount.

IMO the Nikon Omega scope is similar to a $ 100 Tasco.

my redfield 5 star has marked elavation caps for diffrent grain bullets/caliburs,its accurate at least to 350 as thats as far as i have shot at paper,i would like a adjustable for a muzzleloader so i could set it with diffrent bullets,mike243

You can see people shooting a TC ML at that distance on youtube.
I don't know what groups my TC will shoot out that far.
The Savage is more than capable,if the shooter is.

I posted above that I killed one at 326 with my muzzleloader.

I used a VX-III with B&C reticle and I did it by pulling the trigger....

after much practice.

As I said above, a much better way to play are M1 dials - easy as pie.

I have a Bushnell Trophy 3x9x40 on my encore and have had no trouble whatsoever. Been on there for about 5 years or so.
