Scope bases

I've noticed a trend with most newer scopes. It seems the tubes are not nearly long enough to fit in the rings on a standard long action rifle. I have a savage 110 flat back and looking to put a new scope on it. I'm currently using weaver 2 piece bases and mounts. Scope won't fit. Looking for opinions and options. Wouldn't mind a picatinny rail but that may not be the best option. Not looking to break the bank but I want something that I won't have to fool with anymore.

I put a cheap Weaver multi slot rail (similar to a picatinny, but lower profile) on my savage 116. It gave me a lot of flexibility with eye relief and ring placement

that's kinda what I want. I've looked online but I can almost get the dnz for the same price as the rail. I like the flexibility and prefer to scoot my scopes back a little to account for a coat on hunting rifles.

I've looked online and the best I can find it is around $47 on eBay and amazon. Got any leads that may help save a few bucks. Thanks

Almost all my rifles have DNZ mounts and will continue to put them on all in the future. I usually check ebay and Amazon. Seems like I bought the last few from Amazon.

.. Amazon is the cheapest you will probably find but well worth the money ... I actually think that's a cheap price for what they are.. started using them a couple years ago about got all my rifles switched over

Those were my reasons, but $12 with free shipping is pretty cheap.

I would encourage you to not cheap out on scope mounting, especially not with a base that uses slotted screws. I'd hate for you to be able to contribute to the "Has poor optics ever cost you a deer?" thread.

I've just about always ran weaver bases. The issue I've ran into thru the years were cheap mounts that wouldn't stay tight to the bases. Those are quickly replaced and the junk ones go in the trash lol. I may get the dnz if I can find out the spacing. Which is my current problem.

I tried to call them but I'm guessing they had closed. I'll give them a call tomorrow. I read on their website they had some offset rings but didn't see them nor a part number. Probably go that route if I can

some of the new scopes you just have to use a pic rail if you want to mount it where it needs to be on a long action,,even with some traditional scopes I have had to use the front extension base and offset rings to get them back far enough to suit me,,

this is the route I'm going. The extension didn't appear to do what I needed so I went with a rail
