If you were buying AR 10 platform hunting rifle 6.5 cm or 308 what scope would you put on it.
Around $500
May spend more or less but that's the price range. I like the thought of illuminated but real life experience is appreciated.
More holdover but may learn turrets.
Like to reach 600 yds comfortable and maybe a bit further.....

What's your price range? What distances will you be shooting and are you looking for a holdover reticle or do you spin turrets?

The SWFA SS scopes are incredibly tough to beat in that price range, with good reticle options and tons of erector travel - plus the zero retention and tracking are incredibly reliable.

I personally would not put illumination high on my list but that's a personal choice.

Vortex has a few good reticle choices for holdovers and solid glass in several of their scopes, but if you plan on spinning turrets I would look elsewhere. Again, that's a decision you will have to determine.

I,second the swfa. Unless you are going to step up to a razor I wouldn't rely on the vortex tracking repeatedly. Also, I have multiple scopes with illumination but it was just something that was on the scope and it never sees use.

I have an older Nikon buckmaster 4x12x50 with turrets and AO I'd sell if that's something that interests you. Great scope just dont need it
 
The mount is just as important as the optic, and I would budget at least $150 for that. Does your budget include the mount, or is it optic only? If you're wanting to shoot deer at 600 yards, I would recommend 15 or 18x simply for target identification purposes.

I used to have a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 in a Geissele mount on mine, and 350 is about my hunting limit with that setup.
