I have been looking at trading a scope and have been offered a couple different trades. I was needing a little advice from some trusted tn deer members
1. Sightron s11 4x16x42
2. Nikon monarch 4x16x42
3. Leupold vxII 6x18x40
4. 2 leupold vxII 3 x9x40
Thoughts on these scopes. It's gonna be mounted on a remington model 7 260
 
If your shots are mostly goin to be 100 yards or less you only need a 2x7x32, but you dont have that listed, i like nikon, a 3x9x40 is plenty enough!! So i guess #4, even though i like nikon :)

Number 4 is the most reasonable. Very good name. Great optics. Close-to-Perfect FOV. Lightest. Can see as far as you can shoot.

#2 would be my second choice but you are carrying weight you won't use.

#3 is too high power at the base setting of 6x

#1 Not familiar enough with Sightron products to suggest it is better than #2

Wait:
If yur eyesight is as bad as mine you may want to consider #2 or even #3.
 
Is #1 a standard SII or a SII Big Sky? If it's a Big Sky, I would vote for it. I have 2 of them, 1 is a 3-9x42 and the other is a 3-12x42. I like them much better than any Leupold I own, and I have a few of them. Optically very close to a Zeiss, with the weight and appearance of a Leupold. Definitely a lot better glass than a VX2. And a little better than a VX3 to my eyes. I like the 3-9 power range better than any of the other options, especially on a short action rifle, so #4 isn't a bad choice either.
 
Out of those choices, I personally would keep looking. Weaver Grand Slam and Vortex Viper brand new are in the same ball park dollar wise and mechanically/optically are just as good if not better.
 
If gonna be shooting 300 yards+ I would choose #2. If gonna be shooting less I would look further depending on situation. I just put a weaver super slam 2-10x50 on my 7mag. Extra light gathering with the 50, and most my shots are less than 300 yards.Dang nice scope too! IMO, a happy medium is a 3-9x40. Depends on what you want to do with the gun. Lots of choices out there!
 
If the Sightron is not Big Sky I would agree #4. A Sightron SII in Big Sky would be the best scope but extra power is not needed on the gun you mention.
