I'm needing another scope. Not sure what it'll go on yet. Probably my 308 or 243. Looking at a vortex diamondback 4-12 for $189. Also looking at a minox zv3 4-14x44 for $269. Can anyone give me the pros and cons on both. I like the price of the vortex but the minox za scopes seem to be popular

The only con about a vortex is the crosshair is a little thick on the one I have, but it is a good hunting scope not so much for target shooting. I don't know any thing about a minox unless you have a need for higher mag scope imo a 3-9 is best all around and most of time cost less. I just order a Redfield 3-9 from midway for $99.00 plus free shipping.

I do a lot of paper punching in the summer and my eyes just aren't up to par lol. That's the only reason for a higher magnification scope. I currently own a Nikon 4.5-14 but compared to my leupold 3-9 the crosshairs are a bit thicker.

I know about the eyes mine not too good either. You might need thicker crosshairs to see but not good for punching tiny groups. I like a scope with a fast focus that seems to help clear things up.

I have a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 on my CZ 452 that I use for punching paper. Cameraland used to have a deal on the plex reticle but I don't know if they still have any. I think they discontinued this reticle. I am very pleased with the scope.

I use the Minos AZ# in 3x9 on 7mm-08 rifle. Optics are great. The BDC reticule is not overly crowded. I have been able to see better and am more confident taking shots at Dusk. Eye relief is good. The only aspect of the scope that i do not like is the reset procedure on the elevation and windage dials. You loosen 3 tine screws and set the dials where you want them. It works but easy to set dials off by and small amount. Here is a good review of the scopes you mention. http://www.opticstalk.com/minox-za3-meo ... 23722.html

I settled on a minox zv3. It's the economy model to the za. So far I'm pleased but a few things I don't care for. It had side focus. I like the side focus but it's hard to turn and the markings for the yardage aren't the best. Also. On wind age and elevation the clicks aren't really clicks. Hard to feel what you've turned. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to try it out a bit

Forget the markings for the paralax, just adjust it till the target is crisp. Never owned a ZV series Minox but I've got a couple ZA's and I like them. Their adjustments feel a little spongy too but they track well and hold zero like a champ. Even on a smokeless ML.

The reviews said that about the turrets. Reviews said the zv seemed a little better than the za models. You're right about the focus. I can set it close and adjust as needed. As stated above the bdc reticle is not crowded. I've got a Nikon with the bdc and that's one thing I don't like And the circles lol

i don't have any experience the vortex but have been really pleased with the minox bot the zv and the za
