SC redfish / trout fix

So six guys have been doing a trip for a week for the past 20 years. Initially started as a buddy and myself but the last 10 years 6 guys and three boats.

Two days the wind was way too much for center consoles but the trout were IN and good numbers were caught off the pier. We did have an afternoon with the boats that we found a huge school and it was every cast! 60 trout ( 6 limits) got brought back that evening to get filleted , vacuum sealed , and eat a home cooked meal from one of the guys every night. One of the guys makes the best gumbo I've ever eaten.

Thanks. We are going to do it until we can't get in the boats or walk down a dock! Every year on the last day we each throw new flies in the water at the end of the day for a memorial to fishing friends we lost the past year. This year we threw a dozen for 2 great guys we lost that had taught us all a lot about fishing, hunting, and life.

We do joke we need some young dudes to clean the boats at the end of the day while we drink beer!

Question about that gumbo: does he make it all in the crock pot or does he make it in a stock pot and then put it in the crock to keep it warm?

Stock from scratch the night before and later moves it to the crock pot to keep it warm. We haven't died yet! I got the leftovers frozen waiting for me to get down there again !

Great tradition you guys have there. Being with the guys is the best part and catching a few fish (or a lot) is the icing on the cake. And anytime gumbo is involved you know it's gonna be a good time.
