THe house I bought has some fruit trees including apple. However the apples trees which were producing fruit seem to have died. This in an area where it was supposed to be wet this year. The only hint was the former care taker used weed killer around them - would this be enough to kill them off? And once theyve lost their leaves is it game over or theres a possibility of them coming back next spring?

Did you let the grass grow up around them? If so, check the bases of the trees for signs of chewing. Voles may have killed them. That is why the former owner used weed killer around them.
