Savage smokeless

I plan on starting with some 250g .i like a 300g bullet in my optima but have had no problem with 245-250.there are some loads listed with 300g & that powder.i will start out low on any load to get on paper & get use to the rifle.it should be a lot cheaper than 777 in the long run.will take awhile to site in as hot as its been latley

Do the dippers run lite or heavy ?or just not consistant

I have no real experience with them but I don't think you would get exact weights using them..

I was thinking about using dippers, guess I will use a beam scale.

No consistency with them. When I first started with smokeless I spent a weekend fighting verticle strings. The helpful folks on Doug's recommended I ditch the dippers and the verticle stringing disappeared.

I started with dippers too then got one if the digital scales. I weighed some of the loads that I had "dipped" & had as much as a 3 grain difference. I love my little digital scale it has definately helped my accuracy.

x2 on dougs board, its better to spend a little time researching then spending hundreds of dollars trying to figure out what others have already tried and tested
