I am going with the AA5744 powder rather than the imr4227,barnes 250 grain expander, w209 primers. My question is, do Barnes bullets come with the correct MMP sabot that I need for my savage.

They worked for me. At the speed 5744 will give, I would use the SST - much cheaper than the Barnes. I killed 5-10 with it and never had any problems.

Another good powder would be SR-4759 @ 42-43 gr.

I agree with ewc, I started w/5744 and shot well then switshed to 5749 and groups tightened up. plan on using the expander 300 gn. for huntin this year. it is an mmp sabot I asked when I called to order sabots from them and they are glad to list for ya who uses their sabots. make sure when shootin this gun in the heat you give plenty of time for the barrel to cool (took me awhile to learn) as it will kill accuracy the sabots are very sensitive to heat.
ewc- you got one of the 45 pacnor's didn't ya? that's an awesome setup I think I might take the plunge next spring. hopefully you and kevin will have it all worked out by then.

fullstream-

Kevin got the .45 and I got the .40 - both pacnor.

I believe you would love either one.

Kevin's gun is probably more versitile as he can shoot sabotless and saboted. My gun is sabotless only. Sabotless is the ticket for shooting during the heat or shooting a lot - you don't have to worry about protecting the sabot.

looks ike you got some good advice. ;)

I shot a bobcat at 143 yards in the head with the load I gave you. I do believe that is an accurate load. I can get three holes touching at 100 yards out of it.

Yep good advice above.

I use the same load as ewc mentioned above with the IMR4759, Branes 245gr Spit-Fire with a MMP Sub-Base. I also shot it with the regualr 250gr Expanders. No problems at all with the supplied sabots with that load even without the sub base, however accuarcy wasn't that good either.
