Just a few short years ago i would turn my nose up at the thought of owning a savage. Not me, no way will i own a generic old savage! Since the introduction of the accu trigger i bought my first gun with a lot of hesitation. It was a 12bvss. And with my suprise it out shot all my other so called expensive guns hands down.Now im on my third Which is a 22-250 lrpv with the new target action and trigger...WOW If you want a true one hole gun without spending 3 or 4 grand on a custom gun check one out it will amaze you....
 
I like that with the savage ugly barrel nut I can unscrew the barrel and install a new 'action-length' barrel, check headspace...and go to town. Savage produces some excellent rifles! Maybe we shouldn't talk about the affordabilty of a great rifle that shoots superbly in a public forum ;) My vote goes to keeping the secret and buying more Savages for $300-$700...less than half the cost of a rifle with a better "pedigree" :)
 
my next rifle will be a savage muzzleloader,i have a 243 that is as accurate as a person could ask for.i have seen very few of them that wouldnt shoot,the adjustable trigger will be easy to tune & theres lots of great info on loads ect to make it easy to find a load that a gun likes.a gun dosent have to have classic lines or big box names to make me happy,function & accuracy is all i want out of a tool & thats all a rifle is,a tool.if i wanted a new bolt action rifle id probaly get a savage because of past history with that brand,mike243
 
My opinion, for what its worth, is that from all the long gun manufacturers, rifles in particular, the company that has covered the most ground in the last 3 years is undoubtedly Savage Arms.

I could see me having one in my safe, way ahead of several of the makers out there right now.
What I like is the weight in their barrels on the Predator model, and the new target actions in single shot are really nice.
The new large bolt handle and its new smoothness is a big plus.

I did get to handle a new X-Bolt as a Browning Rep stopped by our store. You guys who are giddy over the Brownings are in for a treat.

Ugly or not - best rifle ive ever owned so far.And it hasnt missed its mark yet at longer ranges than anything ive ever tried.Mine is the Savage 10FP in .308 its a heavy bugar but easy on the shoulder.
